Any recommendations on brands for some hip waders? Do you folks find they help with getting just that little bit further out or do you think it doesnt make much of a difference?

I wear Magellan chest waders from Academy Sports paired with a pair of cheap baseball cleats for traction on the muddy banks. I donโ€™t so much wear them to get extra distance in casting, but more to cross creeks and get that extra distance from fellow fishermen. They allow you the ability to go further than you could without them. Well worth the investment in my opinion.

I generally just wade in jeans for the same reason.

Wet wade. Waders are just extra weight, get hot, and get in the way.

+1. Waders are great for winter when the water is cold but I much prefer shorts and sandals and just walking right on in. Cools you down on those hot summer days!

Catch and release. The dream - to catch one of every species of Freshwater fish in our great state! If only I can resist Carp...

Breathable waders for warmer temps

I don't always catch fish, but when I do, I prefer Dos Hybrids

Heck breathables for what passes as cold weather down here. I use waders here to move around streams whn the water temp is below 65 or so and the air temp ain't breaking 80 after that it is a pair of el cheapo nylon fishing pants and wading boots. Don't necessarily need the boots but they do the sand gravel and other debris from getting in and becoming irritating. Wading pants help keep bugs and poison ivy at bay while fishing along the banks and no one wants to see my purdy white legs.
