I just emptied my boat to take it in for repair and I weighed everything. Tackle, rods, tools, spare prop etc, 159lbs. I've got more stuff that I pulled out to shed weight last year.

Not sure. But, it far outweighs the fish I’ll catch with it.

I'm not really sure but I have never used 80% of it. I've been thinking about clearing most of it out to free up room.

big debate on another forum...someone quoted greg hackney as saying he carried 12-1300 lbs of tackle in his boat...most people are saying that is a huge exaggeration.. I think a lot of pros carry a spare trolling motor, extra prop,20-25 rod/reel combo plus tools and 15-30 plano boxes...not sure about 1200 lbs but I believe 700-800 lbs of tackle and other gear is possible.... 1200# may be a little high. I emptied my boat a couple months ago and put all the stuff into big tubs from Home Depot. The soft plastics alone was over 80#. Terminal tackle & hard baits were about 60#. Rods, reels, and all the other junk we accumulate in every compartment, probably 80-100#. I would say easily 250 pounds of junk came out of my boat.

for what it's worth,I sold my 18 1/2 ft Ranger recently and I didn't realize just how much tackle and misc stuff I had in that boat until I had to unload it...I pretty much had an 18 1/2 ft tackle box... If he had half that his boat would struggle to even plane out. Proably more like a hundred or so.
I got all day I’m retired

I bought a boat last summer from a buddy who had dragged it home from Washington when he retired from the Army. He'd used it for halibut, crabbing, and other northeastern species. He had a milk crate full of lead ball sinkers the size of hand grenades, I think they're one pounders, stashed in a rear hatch he didn't even know was there.
