My nephew has a 1997 Mercury EFI 200HP and the ECM has gone out. We were told this part is no longer made so either send it in for repair or buy a refurbished one. Does anyone have any experience on where we can do either of theses things without it costing a fortune? He’s a 22 year old college kid so I’m just trying to help him out.

Hey buddy, you might get a faster response if you put this down below in the Boat and Motor section. I will add that you can find refurbished/used ECM units on the internet from $200-$500 used...

Do you know where those can be found? Seems like most repair shops I found are for cars or computers. Looking for a quick response and thought maybe someone in this section might have had to deal with this before that could offer some advice faster than that section is all. Thanks

I had a similar issue with my 04 Evinrude. I sent my EMM to a gentleman in Hermitage TN. You might call them at 615-707-1273 and ask them who they would recommend. The name of the company is Ficht EMM Repair. I know they do several different brands. He made my motor scream.

Simon or possibly Brucato would be your best options.
