Going to Grapevine middle of next week and will be staying on the south end of the lake (campgrounds). Since this is going to be my first trip I prefer to fish on south end. Worth taking my boat and any areas to be concerned about?
Thanks in advance for any help you can give me.

Definitely worth taking your boat. You can run the entire lake with no issues accept way back on the west end where Denton creek flows into the lake. Just watch your map and contour lines on your graph for high spots.

Always worth taking the boat to any lake! That way you can fish wherever. I went up there for the first time last month and it was a beautiful lake

Donโt crowd the bank on the north side of the lake when running. There are some giant rocks all along the north shore....

Fished coves on Saturday trying to stay out of the wind and zeroed.
Went back Sunday afternoon and battled the wind again on the main lake. Caught a 3 pounder and a couple dinks off secondary points with a jig.
Water temps were 61 on main lake and 63 in the coves.
Looking forward to hearing how you fare.
