Fished Cypress springs last week. Water temp was 54-58. Water clarity made it tough. Any reports for out there? Trying to get on a big female.

water clarity @ cypress will never be the same since they killed all the grass. Give it another week or two and your odds of seeing them should go up, we're all pushing for something that just hasn't occurred yet.

Is that why all the lily pads and all the vegetation is slowly dying south of the bridge? By the way have you ever fished over there? I’ve tried in years past, never had in luck. I figured it would be great considering it’s the only thick vegetation on the lake.

Not sure on how the pads died, but a few years ago, it was the ticket to a couple of tournament wins that I remember club fishing... But not by me, we were too late getting up there after the bite died off.

I remain convinced one of the home builders that is building a new home down far west of the bridge put something in the water to kill the pads. The banks where they are building now are generally choked out by lily pads and that would give them a good reason to do something like that. I went up there last fall to check them out and there isn't a single pad, stem or anything resembling a lily pad plant. I talked to the State and the Water District as well as a local game warden and none of those entities did anything to remove or reduce the pads.
The biologist for the lake said he thought it could have simply been timing of high water right during the time when the plants were going to germinate but that wouldn't completely wipe them out.
I stand by my theory and wish I knew which home builder did it.

We were shocked last fall when we went up there and couldn't even find pad stems. That area was thick before.

Same thing for me guys. Was shocked and starting make a few calls from the boat. There have been times when the FCWD thinned them out a bit but would have never eradicated them. Each group said they didn't do anything. I am hoping that Tim B was right and it was just a weird timing deal and that they will come back this year. Will know in the next 60 days if that was the case.

Never have decided to go back down the creek channel and go back. Is the fishing any good in the back?

"Buffy, I can't figure out why the water in the natural swimming pool isn't as clear as it used to be. I thought once we removed all that despicable vegetation it would be paradise."
"I know, Biff, it is absolutely dastardly. Now have the yard boy take the cover off the yacht...I mean wakeboard boat...and let's drive around among the commoners."
