My boat came with Lowrance Hook2 5” units. The previous boat had an Elite 9”. The 5’s are just too small, so I want to get new units, which brings me to the question of what to choose. I want 9” screens, so that is settled, but which maker is going to be best for me? I could go with Lowrance Elite 9Ti2 but have no reason to avoid Humminbird. Is the Humminbird easier to use, since the Lowrance gear has given me a headache a few times. Does one have an advantage over the other?
Please give me the benefit of your experience, though I don’t want a Ford/Chevy fight. And I just don’t want to spend the big bucks on a livescope system yet.

I went from humminbird to garmin and could not be happier, 2 93sv plus and the trolling motor.
a whole lot easier to use than the birds were, excellent picture on screen, link wireless with built in wifi and have a ton of features.
garmin now owns navionics as well so map quality is great too.
price wise for a 9" 1k is not bad these days, got mine for a lot less but that is another story. watch bps/cabelas,they just had them on sale for 599.95 not too long ago.

I put a Humminbird Helix 10 MSI on my boat yesterday. Took it out for the first time today. There is only one way to describe this FF: AWESOME!!
The images are crystal clear. I probably will never use half of the features this unit has. I'm not even sure I am smarter enough to use most of them but the basic every day functions are incredible.

Right now, I am leaning toward Lowrance Elite Ti2 9”. But, I do know a local serious bass fisherman who constantly upgrades to the newest and latest and greatest fish finder gear. He said to call him to see what he might have extra.
