My brother is big into them. He’s down here in Belton for the annual show.



I grew up in hog country and showed pigs in 4-H for ten years but things sure are different now.

At one time that county was number one in hog production in the country.

Years ago I stayed a few days with my brother when he was living in a trailer on a pig farm. I don't think I have ever smelled such foul smells in my life! It was so bad I think it permanently destroyed some of the smell sensor in my nose. Don't get me wrong, I love me some bacon and pork chops, but I try to stay as far away from those nasty creatures as I can.

Correction: Nacogdoches County, because they wouldn't allow it in the City Limits. But you pretty much called it.

we only show gilts , our heifers do that same thing right before they go in the ring. AS a Dad , I am the arse man , paper towels and baby wipes under my arm for these events.

Do you know the judge?

No I don’t. I don’t follow the circuit, just my brother. I just help him out when he comes to Belton.

There’s different judges for the different breeds too.
