My daughter wore an Astros shirt to school today.
She said she had no idea about the sign stealing, but liked the rainbow color design on the shirt.

Ban all players that you know for certain were involved for 2 years, strip rings/trophy/bonus, and this issue goes away forever. Messing with the integrity of the game is not something that you should tolerate. MLB is way off base on this one.

I will say - if they don't do any player punishment and if I'm an MLB player and I see what happened, I'm 100% going to cheat if we make the playoffs this year. There is no reason not to.

Guys, I found the Rangers fan who has taken the road of "if you can't beat them, tear them down to where maybe you can."

Need a real Commissioner who will issue tougher consequences.

Goodness, you guys will abandon all common sense to defend an unethical organization that you have no direct connection with.

I'm making the point that the purpose of punishment is to deter the offense. If this is their punishment, it won't even come close to achieving the intended effect.

just read a story about the high number of Astro batters that have been beaned so far this year & Manfreds pledge to protect Astro batters, I am starting to think they should take a hands off approach for a a year or so, gotta be easier & cheaper than the banning players (and the managerial, union & other BS that goes with it) also really think if ALex Cora is found to have played a major role while bench coach as alleged, lifetime ban would not be out of order

I don't think any of the HBP against the Astros during spring training have been in malice. It has been mostly young AA pitchers beaning young AA batters that weren't involved in 2017. Altuve was hit in the foot on what looked like a curve that got away from the pitcher.

How would you cheat if you were a MLB player? I'm really curious.

Is not fandom enough of a connection and why does it have to be a "direct connection"? Do you have to be a member of the organization to defend them?

Not even close? Do you have any basis for this statement? I would think the threshold of deterrence would vary by each individual player. You are getting to sound more like Dan ... your typing has become shrill while rising 2 octaves.

I would argue that there is a degree of deterrent. Whether it rises to the level you'd like to see I can say obviously it doesn't. Team punishment, and a spotlight on the offenses is a deterrent.

Same as the astros.

If the team cheats, being a fan is not a valid reason to defend them. Unless you're just a blind loyalist. If you can't see that what they did was wrong and that they didn't earn the trophy, then it's your rose-colored glasses on.

Most of my posts are laughing and the idiocy of those who defend these dirtbags, not any kind of shrill yelling. If you mis-read my tone, not much I can say to that.

If the astros feel like they can improve their chances to win a WS if the cheat but can't if they don't, why do they care if the coach and GM get the axe but they get a ring and a bonus?

I mean they did it before they even knew the punishment was essentially nothing. Now that they know the punishment is nothing, why would they stop?

In summary-

Astros cheated. They admitted such. The punishment was minimal. Shame on MLB.

However their "title" will be forever tarnished. We all know that.

Some of their fans want to defend them, minimize what they did, shout accusations at other teams, deflect, call names, and basically behave like dopes. That's fine. I'd shut up..but do you.

It's a bad deal. We must get past this. I don't support throwing at guys, but I get it.

Let's play ball! Good luck.

Dan, legit question. Will you disown Mookie as a dodger fan if the Red Sox investigation proves they cheated? Or will you look the other way... don’t lie.

If that is proven he is garbage. I am like the least excited Dodger fan about Mookie. Maybe I just have not seen him play enough. But if he was a trash can decoder or anything like that, [censored] him.

Dan, if getting a former Astros or Red Sox player traded to the Dodgers makes the Dodgers better; would you do it?
Or pitchers only?
