In the process of updating my desktop right now. I really did like 7, but we don't have a choice. Been running 10 on my laptop. It's not terrible ... just don't like the interface as much as 7.

I enjoy Windows 10 as my work laptop was migrated a while back, but I maintain about 90 machines at 30 different locations. I have server 2k3, server 2008, server 2012, xps, and 7 machines running our legacy software at hospitals and Universities throughout the North Texas and SE OK. We are not supporting windows 10 with out legacy software, but it seems to work as of now. Since we setup networks, most of our customers are going to be forced to update our product line as they migrate to 10.

I did the same on two (2) old systems that would _not_ upgrade in the past. BOTH systems upgraded to W10 within the past 6 weeks by following the current suggestions and being patient. (patience is not in my vocabulary). I now have 2 more systems in my inventory that I had signed off as toast. Go figure . . . . .

I recently worked on a system where the user was told by tier 2 tech support for a major OEM that the unit would not install win 10 much less run it, that unit was shipped to me and shipped back out within 24 hours with a running windows 10

J.P Take a look at this for the interface change Open ShellI've already gotten used to 10 on the laptop, so the desktop change won't be a big deal. Gotta keep adjusting to the times. I held out on 7 basically past the last minute, so all in on 10 now.

I still have a tower running Windows Vista. I only use it for bookkeeping and spreadsheets so it is never connected to the internet. It is so much faster than Windows 10.

HI BLUE MOON DO YOU DO COMPUTERS ? I AM TRYING TO DOWN LOAD AUTO CAD ON MY COMPUTER Apologies for missing your post, unfortunately I rarely have free time to follow threads. Hopefully Dafanman or someone else helped you. For anyone trying to reach me please PM me and I’ll try to help when possible. Blue Moon, is there a certain video editing/creating software you recommend on Linux? Regarding photo and video editing on Linux , it depends on what your needs are. Unfortunately Adobe still doesn’t provide Linux support and for the most part, Adobe still has a stranglehold on the professional market when it comes to images and graphics, especially if you need to work with traditional media. The good news for Linux users is that options are improving. - Video - For video editing DaVinci Resolve is world class and a cross platform app. I’ve heard it’s challenging to run on some Linux distributions and optimized for RedHat/CentOS. It’s available in a lightweight, free version along with a paid pro version. Other paid and free options are available but before you go through the learning curve make sure they actively being supported.
- Photos - If you’re looking for a Linux app similar to Lightroom, take a look at Darktable. Gimp is the most popular Linux app similar to Photoshop. RawTherappe is a powerful crossplatform raw photo processing system similar to Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) as either a plugin for Gimp plus you can use it on Mac or Windows.
- Graphics - If you need an Adobe Illustrator like vector based drawing app, Inkscape is a cross platform app and works on Linux.
Hope this helps~ Blue Moon

I've been hearing about the demise of Windows 7 for months now. I'm still using it with no problems so when exactly is the end coming ? Same here, no issues what so ever.
