Tying up a mess of clousers again for the sandies. This batch has more #6 and #8 than I have previously done. Added some grey and white with black bead chain eyes based on internet research for some different water bodies; in my old holes pink and white was the go to combination together with electric chicken aka pink and chartreuse. Also did some up in threadfin shad flavors on the smaller side for the shad spawn later in the spring. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/02/full-111967-39754-whitebass_clousers_i.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/02/full-111967-39755-threadfin_clouser.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/02/full-111967-39756-hotspot_clouser.jpg) Hope to get on the water soon and chase 'em.

I haven’t tied a clouser in years. Seeing yours kind of makes me want to tie a few. Nice work!

Thanks I tie em because the white bass tend to tear up a fly after a few fish and they are so easy to tie. I did a half dozen of each in about two days. Quick way to burn through 100 hooks. Just saw fetahercraft has Mustad "clouser" hooks in 100 pcks for under 8 bucks may have to give those a go.

Mustad 3366 is the hook I was referring to, not sure we are comparing apples to apples.

yeah, i guess i was on the same kick at the same time. sand bass have a way of doing that ... as does being shut-in. so as long as we're posting videos, here's my take on poorly made big-box Clousers. That is a real fine batch you have at the beginning of this post for sure Bones72! I can hardly ever get a bead-chain eye to turn over and run right though! what is your trick to that?

There is a few tricks I guess. I never go below a medium eye (the ones they bill as small eyes go on #12 and #14 Rio Getters). Tie the eyes in well back on the shank, probably not exactly correct for the original recipe. Use the correct hook either a 34007 or similar or the 3366 or barring that something light wire. When fishing em, let the current do most of the work. Gonna go wash some of mine off in the creek tomorrow. The J-Moe "Magical Clouser" combination has been absolutely devastating this year, gotta be something with the "smolt blue" flash as grey and white with plain crystal flash has been a poor substitute.
Can't believe what "big box" charges for clousers or even what the discount places want for them. You missed one critique point in your video in my opinion. Look at the head in front of the eyes. The thread wraps should cover all the bucktail up to the eye. Nothing like fish mouths or rutted dolomite and limestone cutting through the hair or the thread and leaving you with 1/2 a fly. Just ridiculous (insert hearing aid commercial guy). if you ever want to see some of mine in person just shoot me an address or meet me on the water.

Yes, the actual "Magical Clouser" is tied on a size 8 streamer hook with shad grey & white buck tail, small gold bead chain and the smolt blue flash. Fairly sparsely tied. If you look at the shad in the creek they often have that blue tint from different angles. Also, the minnows in the creek have gold eyes and it matches the size of the minnows during the run almost exactly. If I change anything in the pattern, such as hook size, it's not near as effective. I went through about 75 hooks this white bass season.
