It has been a while since i've been on this board but I have the itch to get back to fishing the lakes. I live in College Station and i've just about given up on Gibbons Creek but was looking at possibly going to Somerville or Fayette. Haven't been to Somerville in a while but can usually catch 5-10 between the 3 of us on a boat. I've never gone to Fayette but I have heard a lot about it. I didn't realize it was only about an extra 30 minutes for me from Somerville. Anyone fished either of these lately and have any reports they mind sharing?

Fished Fayette yesterday as part of a 38 person tournament held by Sa Antonio Kayak Fishing. The big girls weren't stacked up like they usually are, but it's Fayette, and good limits were caught. They're scattered right now. If you go, I'd say focus on timber.

Fayette gets heavy tournament pressure on the weekends until the spawn gets going on the rest of the lakes in the state. If you can go mid week though, for sure check out Fayette!

I am taking for granted that you are bass fishing. I have never caught diddly at Gibbons Creek, probably due to the shut down of the power plant. If it was me, I would choose FCL over Somerville.
