Wife bought me a Ultrex for Christmas. I have a Lowrance HD’s gen 3 that only works on sonar on the front. Which transducer would be the best all around option for down and side scan?

The 3-1 unit works great on an Ultrex. You should look into buying an aftermarket transducer mount/shield to make it solid and safer.
