I’ve just now started to get into tying my own jigs and currently use maribou and colored feathers I got from hobby lobby, so obviously not the best quality. I was wondering what everyone’s favorite tail material is when tying their own jig? Neck hackle, buck tail? Thanks y’all.

I think marabou has the best movement.

I would rather fish than eat and I stay hungry all the time.

Marabou, squirrel and rabbit have the most movement of the naturals I am familiar with.

The marabou at Hobby Lobby is not colorfast, I made the mistake of buying some there once and it still hangs around here some place, lol!

Marabou Blood Quills is what I use most, but I do have a little of the Select too.
Saltwater Neck Hackle is my favorite for Hackle tails
I do also like Kip tail and Squirrel t ails, but my favorite hair is Rabbit.strips.

I like marabou by far over Hackle in Spring, but usually I favor Hackle in the summer, but I do also use marabou then. People look at marabou as a cheap jig, but the way I tie it take longer than tying an Hackle jig, but I don't use the stem in my marabou either.

If you need some good Hackle and Marabou soot me a PM! Or Rabbit strips!

Have fun,

Well I got out there and fished a little bit but about 30 minutes in, the flu hit me so I headed home and have been in bed since Saturday morning.
