It was somewhat useful early on. Now it’s pretty pointless.

It’s a useful tool. Whenever I have a position to fill I’ll scroll through my contact list. More often than not an old colleague will pop out to me that I would have otherwise not remembered. From there I’ll reach out. So it has some usefulness. I also have people reaching out to me about jobs all the time.

It was somewhat useful early on. Now it’s pretty pointless. Yep. It’s like Facebook now instead of being helpful finding a job.

Lot of the college kids I work with think it's the best way to find a job. They're always surprised when they get a job offer from indeed and ziprecruiter, which are the sites I tell them to use. Unfortunately, most haven't ever heard of those until I tell them. I also have to remind them to constantly check their spam mail. One guy missed an interview at Boeing because of that, but was able to explain the situation and got the interview and the job.

Seems like it's Facebook for business dorks who want to post wisdom and check a box that they're doing their job or impress their boss. Just shut up and go do your job and stay off business Facebook. If you really want to be productive, post in the OT all day.

Been good to me. I just created my bio then ignored it. Have landed a couple consulting gigs as a result because my background indicated industry expertise that the clients wanted to tap.

If you really want to be productive, post in the OT all day. Yep. It hasn’t been terribly efficient for me or anyone I know. I’ve used it to check the background of a new buyer I have or someone who has ben hired by my company. I was able to use it to send a note to my new boss before he started with my company. In terms of finding a job, it’s not efficient, but I’m sure people have had success with it.

When I was looking for a job I checked out the people who would be interviewing me on LinkedIn. When I'm filling jobs I'll check out an applicant's profile and see if we have any mutual connections (I'm not a connection junkie, everyone on my list is someone I know and worked with) and give them a call for their impressions. Has saved me from making a bad hire.
