I have had zero luck with the dwarf black diamond crepe myrtles. They all got diseased and did not bloom after year 1. I may not have had good enough air circulation around them. 7-8 years ago, those things were in every booth at the landscape trade shows (not the crappy “home and garden” shows, the actual trade shows for landscapers). A few years ago, they pretty much disappeared. Pretty sure they are gone because it’s so difficult to see early signs of aphids, and the stupid things end up dying out quickly.
Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

You people are why ISIS hates us. Your plant selections are horrible. Don’t be jelly because all you can grow is thorn bush south of I10 I will have you know that today alone, I planted (and by that, I mean my crews planted) several thousand plants that didn’t have thorns on them.

Dug up my Azaleas last year. My soil Ph is pretty high and they weren't doing that great. I planted 2 types of rosemary's last year. If they don't bloom this year I am going to spray them with roundup.
They are problematic for me also. Had them professionally installed so the bed is right. Tried all the additives they suggested. PITA shrub. Foxtail Ferns died out too, they replaced them. Dwarf Nandina and Camelias are fine.

After years of having roses, I finally gave up. I lost my entire garden to RRD before we moved. I'm planting for a different climate down here and looking at things like Barbados cherry and pineapple guava. If you want a pretty shrub - especially in the summer, at the moment I'd look at purple sage / cenzio.

For the love of all that is holy, please plant that cenizo no less than 15’ from a building, sidewalk, or driveway, and if you love sweet baby jebus, don’t use hedge trimmers on it. The plant wants to be gigantic. It does not want to be square, or round, or whatever goofy [censored] shapes that people come up with. You don’t have an English tea garden, and you never will. Let plants do their thing, people.

I have some kind of lantana that mounds to about 3', it doesn't get leggy and blooms profusely from spring to first freeze, but I don't know what variety it is.
