Abelia is one of my favorites for a flowering shrub. They have a new variety called a Kaleidoscope Abelia which is variegated with a bold leaf color.

Mix of Sunshine Ligustrums, Purple Diamond Lorapetalums and Dwarf Pittosporum. Maintenance free other than a little pruning of the ligustrums.

Roller has a good idea too. Abelia attracts butterflies and hummingbirds.

That's my main shrub/hedge in my front yard. I like them a lot.

I think the dwarf CM will be my default if I don't find anything else. I have 3-4 Dwarfs right now and they are great. I'll look into the black diamond. I'm trying to find something I don't have first.

Dwarf Oleanders. Plus you can kill people with it if you want to.

Taller shrub. Fern

Dug up my Azaleas last year. My soil Ph is pretty high and they weren't doing that great. I planted 2 types of rosemary's last year. If they don't bloom this year I am going to spray them with roundup.

The rosemary in full sun has been blooming this week

Itโ€™ll bloom sporadically throughout the year after rains; especially if you prune it every 3 months or so from March to mid November.

I have had zero luck with the dwarf black diamond crepe myrtles. They all got diseased and did not bloom after year 1. I may not have had good enough air circulation around them.
