Costa 580G wearer here....

I have had copper, grey, and green. They all have their advantages at certain light levels.

When I'm fishing shallow water the green lenses are on point. When I'm fishing deeper open water, I prefer the copper lenses. They grey are good, but darken most things too much for my liking.

Blue Mirror for me.

Blue Mirror 90% of the time, the other 10% copper works well for me. The blue is great on bright days on the water and also for driving, the copper is really good for sight fishing and those days where the blue is too much. I never cared much for the green.

i used to think the costa deal was hype- until my wife bought me a pair- they are the real deal see better no more headaches and great protection for your eyes, i would definitely recomend getting a pair in the grey color!

Costa 580g green. I fish inshore all the time. These glasses are around my neck everyday, I wear them while driving, at work and fishing. I have owned the glasses for 3 years now and they are still strong with no scratches. Performance wise on the water I see bait, contour changes, rocks and grass. Best pair I have ever owned.

I have a pair of oakley shallow water sunglasses. The polarization is excellent and the tint of the lense really helps to see your line better. especially gold or clear line. You might even notice colors appear brighter and clearer in general than cheaper sunglasses but offer better protection. Never tried a pair of costas but I hear nothing but good things. If their O-Lab tests you see on youtube are real and Genuine then I believe they have the technology that is better for the health of your Eyes.

another thing to note is with Oakley sportswear like the radars or flak and half jackets. you can get replacement lenses for anywhere from 80-110 dollars depending on polarized and prism. So if you get a neutral frame color you can put any lens color that you want into them and they still look good and are comfortable. Still not cheap for the lenses but.... with costas I think If you break a lens, get a visible scratch in it, or want to change your lens color you have to replace the whole 200$ pair. someone else can correct me if I am wrong. I have always worn Oakleys for those reasons. The o-lab tests and the changable lenses. Also the frames are designed to come apart and snap back together. I have stepped on mine and the earpiece came off. popped it back in and kept going.

I use a light amber lens, Amphibia brand, made in the metroplex, Texas, and they float.

Big difference if you can afford them.

Green and blue mirror lenses are both copper lens based. According to Costa, BOTH allow 10% light transmission. Check the "technology" section of their website. What you are sensing is the higher contrast provided by the green lenses, not the amount of light allowed through the lense. It's there to help subtle bottom differences "show through" when fishing shallow water.

The Costa green is my favorite color lens. If you're old and can't see anything up close without reading glasses, order them with bifocal lenses. It will make life a lot easier on the water.

Yes you know where I heard of them but still interested in how they are.

Not to argue, just to inform. If you have the need for replacement lenses the 580P run around $60 and the 580G are around $100.

Actually the Blue mirror are Gray based lenses and the Green mirror are a Copper base.
