why the long pole???? I catch all the above fished u mentioned from 40lb to 300 lb on a 7 ft rod cost me about $35. You dont have to cast 1/2 a mile , the dam fish swim under the pier all the time ..Just a short cast 15- 20 ft and set back and wait for line to take off..

Gawd I hope I catch a fish so big I will not have to lie again >>>> smile My phone # 713 517 9096

I am not a real big fan of fishing the pier i do it sometimes but its not my favorite type of fishing. i have a 6'6" rod that would be perfect for the pier but I also want a good surf rod so that I can cast a good distance into the surf, if i had a yak I could paddle my bait out but i don't so I need to have something long enought to get me some distance.

I like my tsunami 10 foot. Good rod for about 100$ or so, Ebay will have them, as will alot of tackle shops(academy USED to carry them, don't know about now.)
