The new lake will back up to the Bonham dam when full but it is at a lower elevation.

about 6 miles south of me. like chris said, they have stocked ponds with fish and should be good when it fills.
10 years after it is fishable, people will be talking about "how good it used to be."

Team wolfs I had to perform. It took a minute to get it all in my mouth and another five to swallow it all.

Bois D’Arc creek will fill this lake fast! Last time I drove through the bottom it looks like there will be no timber northeast of the bridge as it’s all been cut out. Lake Ralph Hall is on the sulfur river and it STAYS dry.. People walk out there and hunt arrowheads. Ralph Hall will also be ran by the trinity water district which I believe is the same as on Cooper Lake. The plans sure look good though with all the coves and main lake points! I suspect Bois D’Arc will be the better fishing lake. I plan on marking some waypoints soon lol. I live 15 minutes from the lake so I’ll gladly go fishing closer to home than going to Fork with 62 boats in a cove.

this is part of why the lake is going in, bois d'arc where it crosses fm 100 just north of coffeemill and crockett dams. they have done a lot of work on either side of the road now to clean up and contour for drainage. this was about 3 or 4 yrs. ago, texoma was over the spillway and had bois d'arc backed up about 40' above normal. won't take long at all to fill 14,000 acres the way this end floods.

10 years after it is fishable, people will be talking about "how good it used to be." No kidding. I remember when Cooper was on fire for numbers. The year it opened, my buddy and I would fish Fork in the morning, then head to Cooper. Fork we'd catch 1 or 2 fish, Cooper we would catch 30+ bass each. We would one of two trailers on the ramp. Not big fish but man was it fun. Then the river was the only place to catch a fish, then the mud came and the state park and jet fleas. Same with Ray Roberts. We fished it when there was only one makeshift ramp open. Lot of numbers of bass per trip. I guess it is the cycle of bass lake life.

thats cool Bob, cooper in its prime was spitting out DD's up to 15lbs like no other. I remember one spring day just looking around all day watching boats landing 10 pounders off the road beds like it was nothing. it was Fork II kinda like monti was in the winter, ramps full of fork guides.

It will probably end up like Cooper. They will take water from it until you can't put a boat on it. Cooper brought in a lot of money at first then they kept pulling water out of it. Now there is two state parks, one bait store, and one cabins for rent. You can see two or three boats on Cooper on a good day. Let's hope it doesn't go that route. Just remember it's primary purpose is water supply not recreation. Agree, but, Grayson and Fannin counties and the cities of Bonham/Honey Grove/Sherman have pre existing water rights in that watershed This could possibly provide a hurdle or roadblock or two to prevent Collin County from drinking all their milkshake Hope no one signed any agreements with the NTMWD, as they have taken the position (and court case backed them up) that, even if you have a signed agreement with them they do not have to abide by the terms of it. I think the NTMUD are the drivers of this project and the users are paying for it. They are serous they own the rights to Lavon and Chapman and also buy water from Texoma. Much like Dallas water is to fork even thought the SRA owns it.
