I have a 200 HPDI on my Ranger. Sometimes when I’m in idle, the RPMs shoot up to 3000-4000 randomly. The motor doesn’t rev up or anything. The RPM gauge just goes up and comes down. Whenever I give it gas to get up on plane, it lowers back down to 2000 and goes up according with no problem. Any thoughts? Really don’t want to get it worked on because it runs fine. Been doing it for years. Thanks in advance. FISH ON

If the motor doesn’t rev then it’s your rpm gauge that goes up not your rpms. Sounds like a faulty gauge.

You have a bad tachometer or a loose wire causing it to randomly bounce
