Rick Wilson and I are hosting the first American Carp Society Fish-In for this year February 16, 2020 at Scott's Landing Marina on Grapevine Lake. If you'd like to start your Carp fishing journey this is the perfect opportunity. All you'll need to bring is yourself and plenty of energy to reel in big, powerful fish! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/01/full-107383-37703-acs_flyer_february_16._2020.png)

Here's one of the larger Common Carp from Grapevine - this one wasn't very long but she sure was thick! She tipped the scales at 22lbs even. I was thrilled to be able to put him on such a great fish! ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/G1ikv9f.jpg) ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/4EzbjLO.jpg)

Here's a nice sized Smallmouth Buffalo from Lake Grapevine - you can find them up to twice this size in the lake! ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/lAPSQ7r.jpg)

If I were to make it, would I be frowned at without euro gear? I used to fish alot, but never got the fancy gear as I would fish for multiple species

Banker's 100% correct! You're more than welcome to come and fish with us. Myself and several of my friends will be fishing and passing off rods as we hook up to get people onto their first several Carp and Buffalo to promote them as sport fish. Here's a video of what we're trying to accomplish:

Of course for those of you that are older than Shep there you'll be fighting the fish by yourself!

I used to fish alot, but never got the fancy gear as I would fish for multiple species I’m Redneck Euro myself..............Baitfeed combos but not on “carp” rods (just 8’ medium rods), buzz bar duck taped to river bank rod holders for my Alarms. - Cheapo alarms but no hangers or swingers, usually just corn or maize on #2 hook, oatmeal n corn method.......... Come On Out with whatever you got - I’ve seen guys just back their drag all way off and then tighten drag when they get a run, other guys use baitcasters with clickers on.........

So far this year I've had 6 Common Carp over 20lbs and one Buffalo that was just under 30, all from here in DFW. Fish this big can be found in even the smallest waters such as ponds or creeks, you just have to know how to target them! Coming out this Sunday will be your first step towards catching some beautiful giants like my most recent 20+ pictured below! ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/02/full-107383-40079-y0c7qnv.jpg)

Tying up some rigs for this. Happy to help out in any way, and can direct the car traffic, nice fish.
Don't worry about the mule, just load the cart
