Nobody has been to the river yet?

I might make a run out there this weekend. Will post a report if I do.

We have a 4 day trip planned weekend after next. Late Feb to early March is almost always a good bet though.

I was at River Ridge last weekend. We caught 12 Saturday and 15 Sunday between four people. I talked to Jane Sunday as we were leaving, she said that's about what everyone else was doing, south of her place seemed to be better than north. We fished north. Water was @16.5 at the Carthage gage, it was a little muddy and cold. With all the rain forecasted for next week I would keep an eye on the water level.

copy info below and search in browser. (Carthage gage info) update # of days you want to see. Good Luck!

It's good to hear there are at least a few fish coming up. I imagine the rain will help bring some fish up when the river rises. I use the Beckville gauge, according to it the river has been lower than we usually see it this time of year (fluctuating quite a bit actually). No doubt the rain will change that. I'll be watching the weather closely over the next week, our annual 4 day trip is the weekend after next, so I'm gonna be there one way or another. I've only had one bad trip out there in 12yrs, and the river was out of it's banks that trip. If it's 17' or lower, game on! Above 17' on the Beckville gauge gets a good bit more challenging.

Got there about noon today. Caught a fish here, a fish there, mostly males, maybe ended up with a dozen, quit fishing about 3;30. Worked over the sandbars, known hotspots, went back up in Socogee creek, everywhere but the mouth of the creek. That's because there were a couple guys already there and they were doing better than most, but looked like mostly males and even that action wasn't stellar. Saw other people doing about the same as I did, looked pretty slow. The river is LOW, need that rain coming this week badly. I bet they're staged and ready to run, just need some water.

Ended my day by hitting something submerged and bent the prop shaft. It's insured, but only have 7 business days to get it fixed before I head back out there for four days.

Good report...sorry you bent your prop shaft, hope you get it fixed in Time.

The driving force and secret desire of every bass fisherman, is to one day be a crappie fisherman............Could it be that the good Lord just smilies and looks the other way when a fisherman tells a lie?

We were there yesterday as well. Didn’t catch a white bass until we made it down deep into a well known creek. Only caught 2 males then. Did catch quite a few crappie though. Too low right now, seriously. Give it a little while. Save your gas for now.

I have a buddy with a marine mech shop, just talked with him, he said get the parts and bring him the LU and he'll swap it out for me in a few hours.

Don't know about the ramp at River Ridge. I started using the McFadden ramp last year even though we stay at RR. It's closer to where I like to fish, and has more parking. If you like fishing Murval Creek then RR would be better.

And conditions will change significantly before the end of the month.
