Thanks for the video I subscribed. I'm still a novice when it comes to mapping and using my fish finder so this is very helpful. Does this video apply to all times of year or just the "winter" months? Thanks again!!

A few things remain true, that the riverbeds are the superhighway of travel for bait, and thus fish that follow them. In the wintertime in Central Texas, I'm looking for 50' of water. In the summer, you may have to look around shallower or deeper depending on the months. Typically, the shad are in the shallow flats (off the riverbeds) early in the morning, and move deeper as the sun comes up.

What helps is to fish your local water often so that you can track their patterns. The breakdowns give you a good starting point. good luck,

Thanks. I select 50’ because I fish local waters and have been catching in that depth. So, it’s a starting place. Different lakes will house them at different depths at different times of the year. It’s a good idea to have different depths to target until you learn the lakes better. If you check out the follow up video, I find them at that depth too. Lucky but, it would have been a matter of time before you find the right depth. Tim
