Forgot to turn off the burner under the fry skillet. My whole garage is full of smoke now. Nasty.

Probably gonna stink for a while.
Biden famously said in the New York Observer, โI mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, thatโs a storybook, man.โ

On a side note, my wife is useless in an emergency.

This reminded me of a time when I lived in St. Louis, I was cooking some saucy dish on our electric oven. Our power in the neighborhood went out. My daughter was young and my wife hungry so my mom lived 15 minutes away and we went over there. While at my moms, I had a flash of what I did and remembered that I did not turn off the stove and what if the power had been turned back on. So I quickly dialed my next door neighbor - sure enough, power had been restored for the last 15 minutes or so. He had the ability to get into my house so I asked him to go next door and check on my kitchen - he called me back and said he had to call the fire dept. They came sirens a blazing and had got there a couple minutes before we arrived from my moms.
My neighbor looked at me with a sideways look and said I think you were lucky - when he opened the garage door to the kitchen all he could see was something glaring red through all the smoke. The fire dept said we were minutes from that going up in flames.
Scary and closest I ever came to setting my own place on fire.

Had one last week, damaged plug on a cord arched, luckily my Wife happened into the room, noticed flames ans smoke, put it out before any real damage, just a electrician call.

Thankfully, no fire. Fire is an awful thing. I was involved in one once, and was no fun.

glad yall got lucky! we lost everything the day after Christmas in a house fire decades ago. went to go see the original Superman at the theatre and came home to ruins. even the cat ran away and became feral. saw him throughout the following years hunting around the woods.

That's terrible. You ever figure out what caused it?

candle in a glass jar left burning while sitting on those 70's plastic stackable tables. melted the table then onto the carpet. worst smoke fire in Bedford's history at the time.

Glad everything turned out for the better! Could have been a whole lot worst.
