Well I have been hearing about this bait. But had never used it. I went out on Joe Pool Lake just to be out. Only caught one fish. But I caught it on the Chatter bait. I might just like this bait. What are your three go to baits if that is all you could fish?

Texas rig worm
Drop shot worm

Plastic of some sort (lizard, ribbon tail worm or senko)
Crankbait (medium or shallow depending upon the time of year)
Swimbait

I used to fish jigs a lot and not sure why I stopped. I plan to use them a little more often this year

Chatterbait is a fish catching machine! Best colors to keep around in my opinion is white, white/chartreuse, and black and blue. I’d like to get a natural color like green pumpkin for clear water. But its a great bait all year but best from early spring to early winter. But as you found out they will hit it even in the winter time. Great option to a spinner bait for covering water.

I didn't throw a spinner bait yesterday. I do like the feel of the Chatter bait. A guy told me. If you stop feeling the vibration. Set the Hook. And that is what happened.

I caught 15 this last Saturday at Caddo on a white chatterbait with a small split tail trailer. I fished 2 hours with different worms but never got a bite, swithched to chatterbait and it was on.
I now want to buy some of those expensive chatterbaits.

I was using the chartreuse and a watermelon craw as the trailer. I can't wait to get back out there at a true Bass Lake. Even though Joe Pool is coming up.

I have more confidence in spinner baits but I still throw chatterbaits often.

Does anyone put a stinger hook on your Chatter bait?

I'm stubborn, I fish three or four baits year round and if they aren't biting those, oh well.

Diving crankbaits... if its not too windy. I hate trying to use a plug knocker in deep water with wind howling. Bomber Fat Free Shad, Strike King 5x, 6x, 8x. or Norman DD22s. If they have some chartruse color in them, even better.

Texas rigged weedless worm (Black or watermelon)
Lipless Crank/Rat-L-Trap
Whopper Plopper in monkey butt color

Any plastics on either a Texas Rig or a Drop Shot
Chatterbaits (just discovered this past year myself)
Alabama rigs

The Chatterbait has a great feel. A small vibration and then it just stops. So far when I feel this it is fish on.
