Do some research by googling John Hope and Tracking Trophy Bass. (the name of his book). Even last year on the BASSMASTER Elite Series they were doing tracking studies.
It's been routinely shown that an adult (over 3 lb) bass will likely return to where it was caught within a day or two. These fish have traveled distances as great as 15-20 miles on a body of water.
Also keep in mind that if your dock is brushed out with habitat the fish will replenish in it. Those fish won't just camp out there each day, but the fish in the entire cove will all stop there at one time or another. Yep, your right Kelly. I saw those episodes.

Just string a bunch of rope around your dock, Husker. People will quit fishing it when they are getting hung up all the time, then those fish will never be moved from that spot. I think there may be some laws about putting stuff like that in the lake. Better check first.

Larry, not everything in life is fair. This is one of them and I feel your pain but the reasons given are the reality. I do remember one pro fisherman (J Houston) that I fished with had your best in mind. I was fishing as an amateur with him at a Megabucks at Richland Chambers. We were on fish(he was in 2nd) and were fishing new territory after the wind had changed to the north and was howling.
We were fishing some boat docks and he caught a fish that culled his limit. By the time he had done the exchange we were maybe 30 yards from the dock but he put the trolling motor on high and released the culled fish back under the same dock he had just pulled one out of. Said that fish might be there the next day.
When I was reading this thread that came back to me.

Simple solution...hook a grapple anchor up to a heavy rope and remove your brush the night before a tournament : ) I've relocated numerous brushpiles after people figured out where they were. You gotta keep em guessing.

I've done similar things. Its a blast when I see someone flip to my dock set the hook on a rope, stick it, fight it, and break off. Ain't figured out how to pull it all back up, to stock my box. Don't get me wrong I fish docks too. As long as there are docks they will be fished its the most obvious fish cover.
