I accidentally cut mine took short. What gauge wire do I get? Marine grade and what gauge?

Minimum of 10 gauge from the battery to the power cord.
Marine grade tinned conductors.

By minimum do you mean 10 or plus like 16 or 18 or less than that like 6 or 8? I have a wiring block right below the foot pedal. Don’t use that?

Minimum=no less than

16 and 18 is LESS than 10=smaller diameter and more resistance.
Are you not familiar with what the wire size numbers mean?

The idea is to have the LEAST voltage drop from the battery to the unit power cord due to wire length. You overcome wire length resistance with DIAMETER.

10 gauge for a depth finder?

The larger the number, the smaller the wire diameter.

Notice the Resistance column in this chart where the resistance is higher as the size gets smaller:

10 gage seems kinda big unless you have a unit that is super sensitive to voltage drop, you have a really long run or you plan on also running something else in the future. I got my front unit (9 in helix) on 14 gage dedicated run and never had an issue. That being said, if running the wire is a real PITA I might go bigger than I need just to allow for future equipment up front. I just ran new set of wires to the front of my center console this last weekend. It took hours and I had to cut a new access hole. While I was at it, I ran an extra set for some new shiny toy down the road.
