Are you accessing whatever river you are fishing via private property or are you guys putting in where there is public access? Most of the river fishing that I have been wanting to do is very limited because of private property access. So I just stick to lake fishing or saltwater because I can lauch my boat. I grew up in WV and just loved river fishing. Even though a lot of river frontage is private property there was plenty of public access. Also if you went up and asked somebody if you can access the river via their property, most would say ok. I have not found that here in Texas.

Try offering some of your catch to them for their allowing you permission to use their property.

Well I have found that not to be the case here in Texas where it is hunting or fishing. I am not saying that it can't happen but I guess I must of asked the wrong people. I floated the Devils river one time a while back which is literally out in the middle of nowhere. We had to pay for access through an outfitter and once we canoed past the ranch that we got the access from, the outfitter made it quite clear we basically had to stay within the confines of the river bank. We camped in the river bed on a sand bar as well. Im ok with it.

TomRom: The river has plenty of public ramps. I also have a land owners permission to put in and take out on his property!
