I grinded 1st gear pretty bad when I valet parked one of those at the horse track. I was surprised at how long the stroke on the shifter was from neutral to 1st . I would guess it was over 18 inches maybe 2 foot . I didn't stroke it far enough twice, the owner was standing there pretty mad at me.
