I have tried about everything I know, however I cannot get the tilt / trim to stop bouncing while being lowered. I have filled and checked tilt / trim oil reservoir. I thought it could be air trapped, but spent a lot of time working it up and down while checking fill level, plus I have been told these systems are self bleeding. Anyone else fought the tilt and trim bounce on Etec's?

Pump some fresh grease in the steering tube. While back mine started doing the same thing and that fixed it right up.

I will give that a shot. If I recall, the hydraulic steering blocks that grease zerk on mine. Did you have to remove the hydraulic portion?

You only have to remove the bolt that connects in the center to the steering stem. First time I had it off I replace the zerk with a 90* so no need to disconnect the hyd ram anymore.

Try tightening the large nut on the tilt tube on the starboard side of the motor.

I have greased tilt tube, filled oil reservoir, up and down multiple times and tightened starboard side nut, still bouncing. Might have to breakdown and find some help.

you might try eliminating an electrical problem by hooking up the trim motor wires directly to a 12 volt source tobbe sure its not an electrical problem. I have seen bad grounds and bad trim relays do the exact same thing
