Why don’t I ever see posts on whites or striper from Toledo Bend? I read a TPWD article about Sabine River/Toledo Bend whites and how big they are but don’t see anyone posting about fishing there or catching them. Is TB a good whitebass lake? Most lakes have a spring run I know but how about structure fishing the rest of the year? I would like to go try it out if it has good white bass populations. The lake is so big I would obviously want to know a general area that people have been successful. I sure am not asking for anyone’s honey holes, just a little guidance.
Thanks in advance for the help.

LTF - I cant believe No one has replied to you yet. The Sabine River that feeds Toledo Bend is probably the best white bass run in the state. It would probably be in your best interest to check out River Ridge web site. Guides Jane and Tom, I believe Jane’s handle on TFF is River Rat. The most popular part of the Sabine to fish for this run is south of Carthage, boat ramps Yellow Dog & Mcfaddin Landing are good places to start. A simple rule for fishing a River is always fish up stream from where you launch in case of boat trouble. The run usually starts early Feb. through late March, males arrive first. The bite and where to fish depends highly on the flow of the River. I have a trip planned in a couple of weeks I will try to post a report, Hope this helps, good luck.

LBF, how is the white bass fishing after the run is over and they are back out on the lake? I look forward to your next post after you get back from TB. Thanks for the help! After they head back into the lake they will be schooled up and eating like crazy! Look for birds to help you find the shad and where the shad are will be all the White, Hybrids, and Stripers among other fish. When you find them just don't run up into the school or you will scatter them. You can fish for them with topwaters, crank baits, lipless rattling baits, Little George style baits, spinner baits, etc. and just experiment with which color(s) they want that day. Fish on!
