My wife Christine who just had some surgery (thanks for the prayers on this board btw) on her spine and cord wanted ... well, REALLY wanted to try and go for a drive and get out of the house today. I told her, well, I kind of needed to go out to see a guy who runs Limits Tackle to check out what he has. Weather sucked, but she really hasn't moved much from the comfy recliner we got her before the surgery and she gave me "the look" ... we all know that look. So out of a little bit of fear, I told her to get ready and we'd venture out. Tomorrow's my birthday and well, I just wanted to do something fishing related today. We had a blast on the drive though and just hanging out.
Limits Tackle is owned and run by a gentlemen named Steve (he's on this board as Gonzz). Dang nice dude and you could say he has an infectious passion on what he is doing with his business plus he's a dang good fisherman! We talked shop and we discussed a lot of information on what and why he does it with his jig heads, hook choices (I'm a believer now), and his plastics. He made me a great deal on some plastics to go along with my other brands of plastics made mostly in TX. Guys, his plastics feel like they could last 1000 fish. It's unreal. The colors, ability to do custom orders, it's insane how good these plastics and jig heads are. Cannot wait to do business again with him but I'll tell you this, I better lose a tackle box or just want more colors cause his baits feel like they'll last forever. Gonzz is the real deal guys. You can check him out on FB by doing a search for Limits Tackle.
After that drive, wife and I headed to Hurst ....
Went and talked to the Garmin guys and cannot wait until March to get the Force to pair it with all my other Garmin stuff on the boat. This trolling motor is brushless and SO quiet ... holy smokes ...
Went out to the Fun - n - Sun Boats - n - Tackle show and poked around a little bit. Not much crappie stuff out there but I did run into the guys from Bonehead. They had some baits (which I have a lot of but dang you can't have too many stump bugs), some rods, jig heads, etc. Turned around and there's ol' Tommy Ezell and he introduced himself and I kinda laughed thinkin, do you know how many youtube videos I've seen of you catchin fish? We talked for a while, and he is one of the nicest guys I've met that fishes for a living ... Just a dang nice dude willing to share a host of information. I asked him about his experience with the 12' rods and he politely and emphatically shared so much information that I couldn't help myself so I bought a couple of the 12' rods to check out. Never had a rod longer than 8', so we'll see how that goes. Everyone knows Bonehead has some nice stuff, and I can tell you so far that the rods sure do look beefy and doing a little test I am sure that I'll be able to feel the little nibbles .. it's pretty dang sensitive!
So wifey and I left to make the trek home to get her settled to get some rest. She made note of how nice Steve and Tommy were today, thanked me for taking her out of the house, and asked if I had fun. Are you kidding me? Got to hang out with my best bud, get some killer stuff from Limits Tackle (including The Button, you gotta check that out), eat some awesome food, get some new rods, and check out the Fun - n - Sun show? AWESOME day! Thank you to Limits Tackle and Bonehead for being a part of it!
And as of now, I'm 45 minutes into my birthday! 45 ... dang I'm old now!

Sounds like a great birthday. My dad would have been 92 today and mine is next Saturday.
