you may have other things plugged into other outlets, drawing amps, that are on the same circuit and when you plug in the charger it exceeds the amps for the breaker. Locoted other plugs close by remove what is plugged in. I know that some Gfci are all on the same circuit, so you might want to check the kitchen and your bathrooms.... The circuit is in my garage only, it doesn't extend to the kitchen. There is a garage door, freezer, tv, and boat on the circuit so I guess its possible but would that trip the GFCI or breaker? The breaker doesn't trip, just the GFCI. I know nothing about electric circuit, AMPs, etc..

You need to have an electrician run a new circuit. Freezer and charger on the same circuit is asking for trouble. Most 4 bank chargers will pull 5-7 amps. Most freezers pull around 5 amps, but the freezer will draw around 16 amps for about 15 seconds while starting the compressor.

My 19 zx225 does as well. It is a documented feature with the minkota 4 bank charger. I have not had time to send mine in. I ran mine to a non gfci outlet and it tripped the breaker. Seems to do it when it switches over to maintaining. I just charge mine over night for now.

I have a 2018 FX that does the same thing. I asked my electrician and he essentially said:
If the GFCI detects a ground fault leakage of 5mA it will trip. This leakage is caused by a hot wire touching the ground somewhere on the electrical line such as an appliance or even the outlet itself. This can be caused by water, wires touching, dust or debris, etc.
After a day of fishing and the batteries somewhat depleted, my GFci will pop as soon as I plug in the charger; however if my batteries are charged and I plug the charger in to top off the batteries it will not pop. I just reset mine when it pops. My electrician said that replacing the gfi box may or may not fix the issue. As said above, it could be caused from construction dust.

like cast said, go get a 20a and replace the gfci first. if it has popped 3-4 times it is likely done for, I have to replace mine in my trailer at fork about 2 times a yr. due to storms popping it. they wear out fast and it is for a reason, cheap fix.
just be sure to shut off breaker, reconnect exactly like the one there now is so downstream plugs still feed off of it.
with all the moisture we have in our boats I will not plug in to a circuit without protection, good way to get really curly hair, well if I had any hair.

Anyone had any issues with their boat tripping a GFCI in their garage? My boat isn't plugged into the GFCI but there is one on the circuit that it trips, boat doesn't change, garage doesn't open, frustrating. The boat is a 2018 FX20 for reference. Could be that it is wired for 15amps also. I recommend having a dedicated 20 amp run to your freezer and a dedicated run for your boat. Should be a easy fix. Your freezer should be on one anyway.

Same issue at my house, not with a boat charger, MIne would trip occasionally, I replaced the cheap builder grade from 15 to 20 amp a few years ago and solved all my issues. MIne would trip for no reason, I had to replace 10 of them.
