Hate to tell you since you are an expert on both lakes but lake record at Amistad is bigger than the one on Falcon.....also I believe several 15lbers have been caught on Amistad and only one officially recorded on Falcon.....JUST SAYIN

I hope nobody told Derek Remitz that, when he had 111lbs of bass in that Bassmasters tournament way back.

Three bonnafide 15 's I know of on Falcon.. Scottie Deaton had the lake record for 20 years +- with a 15.12.. Laws current record of 15.63 caught in 2011.. And at Bass Champs about 5 years ago someone weighed in a 15.37..

That's off the top of my head.. Of course on both lakes I am sure some folks have caught giants that were not publicized..

Yeah yeah it has had some big bass caught from it . But from my experience with amistad it has been more of a quantity lake than quality. Falcon has been known for quality And quantity. Why you think people drive hours and hours just to fish it ? I’m not disagreeing with amistad not having big fish I’m disagreeing with people saying the lakes dead . I’m saying you can still go there and catch a five fish bag . But it’s not a lake you can go year around and catch big girls. Like falcon you can go there most any month and your next cast could be a DD .

Hey so... several of us are going on a trip down there soon. Anyone want to actually talk about how the fishing was? What worked well, what did not..that type of thing you know?

Anyone have any thoughts they would share.

For sure -- Amistad as well !
Back to the days when that winning wt of 26 something may not get a check and there were more limits caught than there were teams entered yesterday.
Thats the scary part --- only 37 limits

Fishing pressure!
Share a lunker program for how many years now? Was supposed to make all the lakes a trophy lake remember?

IMO -- the absolute worst thing for Falcon and Amistad is the federal Govt. and Mexico which equate to bad timing of water release and huge draw downs at the wrong time.
If you want to talk fishing pressure - take a look at the number of tournaments on big Sam the last few years. then compare the tournament results. How that lake keeps producing is awesome.

definitely does not help, they pulled close to 28 ft off Amistad in less than two months last year according to my notes, all near or around the spawn.

Last year Amistad dropped 8 feet during the spawn/irrigation season.. Not 28.. It has recovered a bit since then..

Glad to see you guys here last weekend.. See you in two months or before!
