What gear ratio reel do you normally use when fishing these and also what rod length do you use.

My most used to least used are Rapala Shadow Raps, Lucky Craft Pointer 100s and 78s, and Megabass. Rapalas are a great value compared to the last two. They all catch fish and I don't know that I've ever felt like I would get more bites with Megabass.
I use a St. Croix Mojo Bass Jerkbait rod (6'9" medium power fast) with a Shimano Chronarch 201E6. I choose line size based on running depth and water clarity. Texoma had some deeper fish in the fall so I still have 8lb on this setup.
I'm originally from New Hampshire and have spent a lot of time fishing jerkbaits for big smallmouth. When guys were fishing hair jigs and and drop shots I usually fished blade baits and jerkbaits because I love it so much.

I prefer Lucky Craft but have a few Yozuri that have a more slashing action. Jerkbaits are addictive. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/01/full-14056-37515-screenshot_20200122_175245_chrome.jpg)

What’s the one popper doing in the December to March hardbait box? It was still tied on to his rod when he changed to a different bait from this box,,,,,would be my guess. LOL
