Anybody got any pointers on Grapevine. I've never fished for winter blues on this lake before. Any pointers will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Bank or Boat? Mild Winter - Fish are are scattered/on move -could be anywhere. Try off points, channels, humps. Deep, mid depth and shallow. One day may catch Deep, a day or 2 later shallow if Warmish and Sunny........ try around the island too......... Channels near a point can be Good.....there's a series of Humps on NE side somewhere........I'd probally scan/ follow creek channels on the map or Navionics. I've been doing Good on another Lake from 28-42'. If we have a warmer cpl of Days the West end is shallow with 2 creek channels merging - can be Good sometimes..... if banking it - Look on Navionics and Fish a point near a creek channel.........

My guide buddy Steve has been hammering the big fish on GV. He’s been on the west end in 25-30 ft.

Any hints on where the shad are spending their afternoons on GV? I almost always net shad around Scott’s Landing - Year Round - Buffalo n Carp too........sometimes gotta throw into an open boat slip - but plenty to snag net on too........

where do you put in Ed?? I can look at a map and tell ya some good spots close to where your ramp is. Hope you been practicing throwing that fancy deep net though.

The 'vine is kind of small. Though I'll likely put in at Meadowmere. During last spring's high water (+11 ft.) I'd put in in Katie's Woods and drive up to Denton Creek, traveling isn't a problem--though closer is better. Can't talk about this early in the year, but we had them well schooled up off of twin coves back last March. They could already be there again with this non-winter, winter, or scattered. I can't make a predication. That net's not just fancy, but it's a heavy beast too. Once I figured out to choke up on it (like the really big nets, on the coast) I'm getting reliable casts. No kidding, my grip is about 18-24" from the lead line. I don't get it far from the boat, but it's in good shape. Like you talked about when you got the new rod holders, clearing the boat is important work.

You can check the ledge in front of Medowmere where the creek runs next to the hump but I’d probably go straight to rock crusher and throw in and around one of the deep holes or humps Ed. That would be a good place to start looking for big fish too. A little birdie told me the toads were biting good up by rocky point where the 2 creek channels intersect but that was before the storms hit.
