Sonos is great. We have sound bars on all tv’s plus a sub in the living room. Couldn’t be happier.

I know quite a bit about this topic. Someone would need to know a lot about you’re situation (how it will be used, area it’s used in, budget, access to run wires, room for free standing speakers, ability for in wall/ceiling speakers, and several other things things) to give you usable info.

This was our Christmas present to ourselves. Bought a new QLED TV and Put a Sonos center bar and 2 Play 1 speakers with it. Sounds great but not cheap.
The world is changed by your example, not by your opinion.

I was going more from the lenses of telling him what to buy. I guess he did just ask what other had.

I think the best question is ask...what's your budget?
You can go from mild to wild in this.
I have about $6000 in my home theater and would love to have more. AAHHAHAHAHA

What kind of music do you like? Budget? Is this more for home theater or for playing albums? Does your better half have any say in this (will she have a fit if the speakers are over 5ft tall?) Music listening spaces should be left and right speakers and optional subs to set a stage, not surround sound imo. While some home theater systems sound good with music, it's not always their forte...maybe more like a wet forte. I keep mine separate from home theater where I care mostly about hearing dialogue.

Yup...what home theaters are made of The room was such that is allowed the subs and mains to be placed behind the screen without loosing space. Think of an inset where a closet would have been built. DIYSG speakers are sold in "kit" form, and I had to build all of them. So obviously, they are just basic black - nothing show worthy. The sub boxes were built as well. Sized such that they are fitted to the space behind the screen. The mains are placed so the sound comes from just about the middle (height wise) of the screen. The interesting thing is most would be very surprised to know just how "little" power is actually going to the speakers. After I ran the calculations, I found there was no need for more power. These are high efficiency speakers. The mains are only set up for around 70 watts each. The reason for the 12 JBLs, less power needed to shake the room. I don't think I have ever seen the power lights go full on, but I have heard things in the room shake and rattle. Yea I need to get those things out of the room. My next step is to build some acoustic treatment panels, and try quieting down the projector. The two horizontal boards are for mounting the screen. The stands are positioned to angle the mains towards the ears. No the stands are not visible during a movie. The dark red is to help the projection image. All walls and the ceiling are that color and the light blocking drapes match. ![[Linked Image]](https://texasfishingforum.com/forums/pics/userpics/2020/01/full-45821-37364-892a827d_6fd2_4745_9200_bf8e16aa9919.jpeg)

Ha. No vhs. I got rid of all the tapes a few years ago. Long before this madness was even a thought. Not that I would want to listen or watch vhs on this.
This makes good recordings sound like it but it really highlights bad ones also.
