That bass in general revisit the same "spots" year after year? Caught a DD on MLK day last year and headed back to the same spot today to see if she's home. Looks like it'll be a nice day for chunkin' and windin'.

Yes, there has been a lot of research that supports this.

If she's still alive she's very likely in that same general vicinity. Now whether or not she plans to eat today during the short period of time you are throwing in her area. That's another matter.

several years ago caught a 4 1/2 lb bass out of a brushpile in front of a dock on lake martin..weighed the fish in and it was released at piney woods landing at mouth of elkahatchie creek...this fish had a scar and jagged mark plus an indention on his back...two weeks later,I caught that same fish again out of same brushpile (on the same jig n pig type bait)...this fish had to swim 10-12 miles across open water and turn up a creek 2-3 miles to get back where he was caught...
also know of another instance where they tagged some released tournament fish in southwest Louisiana and a guy caught the same fish he had caught a few weeks prior and that fish had to swim 10-12 miles and make numerous turns up different bayous to get back where he was caught...
obviously fish and animals have a built in homing instinct that allows them to go back to their home or in the case of salmon, back where they were born...

A book I read about about Salmon claimed that the fish home in on the scent of the water from the particular creek or stream where they were born.
