Just ordered my Scottโs Halts on Amazon. Iโm taking my yard back in 2020.... Iโm putting out some now and again next month. Going to double dip this year.

Couldn't find any at Lowes yesterday. May have to do the on line thing as well.

Like Derek said in the other post, get on a schedule and stick with it. Her is Neil Sperry's that I follow. Derek also posted a good website for lawn information and products. Application should be made prior to the 15th of each month listed Early spring application Feb 15 - Pre-Emergent (depending on weather, warmer weather, earlier application) March 15 - Fertilizer Summer application May 15 - Pre-Emergent June 15 - Fertilizer Fall application Sept. 15 - Pre-Emergent Oct. 15 - Fertilizer I have switched these applications when we have late summer weather.

Hard Rain - Derek recommended Barricade and from what I've read, it should do the trick. I've used Halts and Dimension in the past with good success. Eliminating weeds from a lawn is a annual process. Like mentioned before, get on a schedule and stay on it. I experimented with my lawn after getting it weed free. Didn't use any pre-emergents for 1 year and guess what, The weed seeds blew in and germinated. This is why an annual schedule is so important.

Barricade - Prodiamine Scott Halts - Pendimethalin Lesco 0-0-7 -Pendimethalin Dimension -Dithiopyr
Those are the common names and active ingredient.
I'm a Barricade and Dimension user. I use the same schedule as Roller22. I use Barricade for the spring and fall apps and Dimension for the May app. Barricade has the longest residual effectiveness followed by Dimension. You can get a sold 12-16 week protection from those. Scotts/Lesco start to breakdown around 9 weeks. Which could expose you to some weed in that 2-3 week period before you reapply. So I would apply a littler on the heavier side. The bag will tell you a min/max amount of pounds to apply this much product per 1000sq feet.
Dimension will also help control small crabgrass that happens to emerge if it got by your early spring app of pre emergent. That's why I use it for my May app. None of the others will do that.
Nothing wrong with Scotts or Lesco. But they are the same product. Only main difference is Scotts is 1.71% active ingredient and Lesco is .086%, so I would go with the Scotts of the two.
I think you can have great results using any of the above products as long as you stick to a good schedule. If you really want to take your yard back I would get a soil test done. That way you can see if you need to adjust your soil Ph and adjust your fertilizer to what your yard needs.

For Roller22 and others using Dimension (Dithiopyr). This is a good deal. Only sold at Lowes. .172 active ingredient compared to .125 in Hi-Yield and a much better price. If you have an s-load of crab grass I would put this down for the Feb and May apps at 1.5 times the recommended label. Make sure you can I.D. crabgrass vs Dallisgrass correctly. This is what I'll be using for my May app. https://www.lowes.com/pd/Sunniland-50-lb-20000-sq-ft-Crabgrass-Preventer-0-0-7/1000008818

Is Barricade safe for St. Augustine? I used Dimension and Gallery for my fall application and my yard is weed free!
