After fishing East Texas power plant lakes last week I would choose Fork.

If you fish Fork it ain't rocket science this time of year.....push as far back as you can in Birch, Caney or White Oak and start working your way out. Trap, spinnerbait, bladed jig, squarebill, a 110 or a jig is all you need.

Since Monticello has been non-existent , Welch has gotten beat to death . Last few months I’ve been on the assembly line fishing them 3-4 times a week. I’m done , I’d rather fish fork or Athens or pines With a hope to catch a big one and take a chance getting skunked then to catch 1-2 lbs on small water packed with boats.

A friend of mine caught some good fish off his lights on his dock last night. He kept texting me every time he caught one.

It was 60 degrees for the low a couple days ago. That would have been the perfect winter night for fishing the lights @ Fork. Unlike the old days of fishing all night @ Monticello and having to dip my rod in the water because the eyelets were freezing. Man I was a dumb a......... laugh

Don't question the intentions of "growing the sport." The forum will get angry...
