What do you find the start of the "spawn season" is for North Texas Lakes such as Tawakoni, Fork, Bob Sandlin, Ray Roberts, etc.?
On average, your heart beats 100,000 times a day. One day, one of those heartbeats will be your last. Then what?
The answer is found in Jesus Christ who said "I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly." John 10:10 ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~

On the lakes you mentioned, it ca be as early as mid/late February and as late as the end of May/early June . Predominantly from March thru May. This is also determined by location on each lake. I was on Athens last Saturday and saw the makings of a few beds.

Normally, it is a temperature and weather thing. MOST spawns start around 53 or 54up to ;72 degrees farenheigt*sp). I know know that is a wide range, but I have seen it over the past 30 years. Generally at 57 to 64is when I see a lot of spawning in those ranges, Hope this helps. Tight lines keep safe and good luck. this is for largemouth bass, smallmouth generally start a few degrees earlier and spots are a few degrees cooler, too. Harder for me to give a range on spots, they are just that way, Tight lines, keep safe and good luck.

I have caught fish on beds at Fork the last week of February in past years. Usually it seems Tawakoni is about 2 weeks behind Fork.

I think it has as much to do with photo period (length of the day) as it does water temp. Once you start to get to March fish will start thinking about it even if the water temps are still only in the low 50's. My neighborhood ponds down here in Houston haven't dropped below 58 yet this year, the warm spell this week has the water up near 64. Zero spawning activity. I think the fish are wired to know they need the right temperature and long enough days to give them a good chance of not encountering a major cold snap.

What do you find the start of the "spawn season" is for North Texas Lakes such as Tawakoni, Fork, Bob Sandlin, Ray Roberts, etc.? Good answers above. I can tell you on Fork the bass will start spawning in the far upper ends of the Northern arms in late Feb as these are the areas that warm first. I have caught bass off the beds looking at them in late-Feb. As the water warms toward the middle of the lake, the bass will start there too. There can be as much as a ten degree water temp difference from the far backs of the creeks up north to the main lake down near the dam. The last fish to spawn on Fork are the ones near the dam in the deeper end of the lake. This water is slower to warm due to the sheer volume. These bass typically will start spawning in mid-March and continue thru April and into May. I caught fish off the bed on June 11th at Fork near the dam. This is not typical but bass cannot read. I have found fish on the beds at Fork on the south end of the lake in March then ran back way up north where I had been catching them for a month off the beds and found new fish that had just moved up. Bottom line is that all the fish do not spawn at the same time even in specific areas of the lake. My belief is there are three major spawns on Fork. March-April & May with the bulk of the fish in the first two months. Last spring was wet & cold and prolonged the spawn later than normal.
