That is the way I like to boil eggs. Bring them to a boil, place a lid on the pan and them remove from the stove to a trivet for the 14 minutes. I drain the hot water and replace with cold but have never done the shake to break the shells. This method frees up a burner on the stove to cook other foods. It also prevents overcooking. Next time I will try the shake part.

I use an egg cooker, Does a good enough job, Clean and simple.

So you have a better way? Please show me how to make our 4 burner stove a 5 burner. Easy peasy. Wife did it. Cost about 1700 bucks.

instant pot boiled eggs are the bestest. They peel really easy too.
