Todays trip started out pretty slow the crappie were not biting good at all we would pick up one here and there, We started fishing trees caught a few, the ones we caught hit very soft, I noticed that the water had dropped 3 to 4 inches that will a lot of the time shut off the bites. The wind had let up some so we tryed some corp piles again caught a few but not that many keepers, finely I decided to try one of my old piles in 13 foot of water and got them going good, we were pulling them in 2 to 3 at a time and then in comes the storms, we got off the lake just in time. We ended up with 26 keepers but caught around 70 total. Thanks Steve and Grady for a great time, I enjoyed fishing with you both and shareing those old stories about the lake.
Cliff

If my job was only a 9 to 5, then I'd actually have "normal" sleep. But I hear year, Hawkster. Some of us have jobs that rotate (in my case, weekly and for nearly 15 years). Be glad for the steady hours and sleep you get. One benefit though of not having all weekends off is getting to fish during the week sometimes, so guess it's the ole "double-edge" sword.

As for Cliff, agree, he's the consumate pro and nicest guy to fish with, who likes keeping it light and having fun. That's what fishing is about!

Hey Cliff -

Thanks for the great time on Ray Roberts today. The fishing was good and so was the company. Can't wait until we can get together again and drag in some more slabs.

Steve

It don't matter if we get wet. This is the first day in a year I took a day off work. It will be good no matter what. We can't wait to learn from you. we would like to catch a mess of fish too, but letting water out of the lake and weather change could hurt us on the catching. But we will be learning and fishing and that is way better than work. See ya in a couple of hours. Good luck to us.

Cliff/gents,

Yeah, sorry...looks like we have a little slow-moving, weak upper level disturbance/low(counter-clockwise rotation) around over central TX. Most stuff up our way (looking @ radar) will be moving NW today, with center of disturbance to our SW. They have 50%, but wouldn't be surprised if they up it to 'Likely' and like 70%.

With weak lift, May heating on top of it, and ample gulf moisture and old outflow boundaries around, you'll be seeing scattered showers/storms it off and on through at least sunset (I go in late this aftn/evening for my shift). Should see off and on chances through next week, with Saturday and Monday looking like the best chances for now as several, slow moving upper lows move across.

I'm supposed to pick up my custom rod from SMS today and get more jigs from him, then go to this 121 Marina slip with him Sunday A.M before I head to work later that afternoon. I'm stoked, as I've heard they do well out there once it's post spawn. I'll investigate the weather Sunday A.M more closely when I'm working this evening.

Just take a rain jacket w/hood for this A.M fellas, you should be ok. May be a little more unstable this P.M with a few lightning strikes, so beware.
