Been catching some crappie around piers here at the hideaway as of late. Had a gift card from my birthday and decided to get one of them long crappie rods. I went full in and bought the yellow line as well.
Where have you been all my life long crappie Rod? Now I wish I bought one even longer! So much more you can do with this type of gear! I had no idea how much easier it would be to fish a brush pile. With the yellow line, you can see and feel absolutely everything.
I turned a page today in my fishing technology.
Bagged 10 in quick order and went home giddy as a school girl.
Everyone, go buy really long crappie rods, you will never regret it.

You know the fish don’t care how long your rod is right?

You know the fish don’t care how long your rod is right? You can just set the jig in the water anywhere you want and never touch the reel. Just pick it up and set it in another spot. It’s simply amazing.

I bought a 10 ft Mr Crappie rod yesterday. and I have some of that yellow line too I got the B&M Rod. I really wish I knew what I was buying when I got it. It needs more backbone, but it looks super cool with a big crappie on it. Looks like a tarpon or something. I was hoping for a quick tip and a lot of backbone to winch them out, next time I get a gift card, I’m going to get one that could lift a cinder block, but for now, I’m going to enjoy what I have.

I inherited a couple long crappie poles. Nothing modern, basically just fiberglass cane poles, one telescopes like an antennae. I decided to try them one day and bought some minnows and took them to Naconiche lake not long after it opened cause I’d caught a couple huge crappie there on Texas rigged 8” worms. I did catch a couple from some flooded dead willows and the next bite I got was probably the largest bass I’d ever hooked. It felt like I’d hooked a freight train and of course there was no turning him from going into the brush. It might have even been a large cat but I’ve since caught several 7-8 lb bass from those willows. It was probably at least that big. Those crappie poles are nice but sure not for large fish!

My PB 8lb.15oz. came from the middle lake while crappie fishing.
4 foot spinning rod with 6 pound line and a 2 inch curly tail grub..
You caught any fish off the boat at the dam on 3rd lake?

B&M 12' Cadillac pole is where it's at. I have 8 of them in the boat rigged with different color slab bandits. I have used these poles for 20 years. Once you get used to them there is no going back. They will bend but I've caught 10lb catfish in them. You'll never break one catching fish, but don't step on them. You can order individual pieces (tips) directly from B&M.
