I used to love to bream fish at Toledo Bend many years ago. Now that I am really old and slowing down my fishing a bit I am getting back into it. Anyone here specialize in the little rascals? What about at Fork?

Fork is good for some bluegills.

Also, I heard there are large bluegills down at Lake Fairfield. Haven't tried it yet but I certainly am going to give them a try soon.

Fork has Hawg Bream, live crickets. Fish fry surpreme !

Do you guide for bream on Fork? I would be interested in a trip that would have some flyfishing and some bait fishing for them.

I just wish local bait stores would carry crickets. That would make it much easier for those who like to do that type fishing. I can't see paying petco $10.00 for 100.

My only problem is that I have 3 sons that would dis-own me if I left any of them at home, and fly fishing is a bit dicey with 4. Don't get me wrong, I love that they go, they are all quite good fishermen. I've even got one that jig & bobbers it while we bass fish. But I would bream fish more if crickets were available at a reasonable price.

That is a good idea to take the fly rod along though. Years ago we used to use poppers.

If you cant get crickets, use bacon or meal worms !! I have better luck with them anyways !!

We fished last weekend at Toledo for bream one night and had a blast. We just used some little crappie pellets and they seemed to love that.

Thanks for the info. Have you tried any popping bugs? And I have seen plenty of lilypads but I guess I missed the cattails. Any particular area of the lake?

Hot dogs, bacon, worms, bread.. they'll hit just about anything right now.

Bream are good little fighters and eaters. I like meal worms but they will hit anything...use to just get a can of green giant corn and go. That can will last a long time.lol

I've caught bream at every lake I've been to with your run of the mill live worms. One worm will usually catch 3 or 4 (break the worm apart). My kids, 5 and 3, absolutely love to fish for them. My 5 year old pulled out a nice sized (and even better tasting) bluegill on a little SpongeBob SquarePants $10 pole

My kiddos have them things...they are a riot.

Yep, worms are always good. We use what I call "wigglers" that I get from my backyard compost pile. Like Nax said...one worm will catch several bluegills.

I have also used oak worms (caterpillars) and catalpa worms when I lived in Florida. These have tough skin and will stay on a hook quite a while. Cut them in half. Great bait.

Man....I'm getting hungry for fried bluegill!
