Bass 101 - you caught FCL on a good day by catching 50! I went on Tuesday; fished from 9:30 until 2. I couldn't find fish anywhere, I caught one @ #3-2 on a lipless crank in 10 feet of water on the intake side of the baffle. Thought for sure that I had found them but I never got another bite. Bluebird, sunny skies with no wind was not a good combination that day. I went to FCL for 2 reasons. One, of course, was to check out a lake I hadn't been on in awhile. The 2nd was to check out Highway 237 through Round Top. I wanted to see what all has been built since the last time I travelled down that way. I was hoping but there still isn't a decent gas station on that road. They are building a lot of new antiquing warehouses, though!
Be safe, Rayzor ![[Linked Image]](http://i418.photobucket.com/albums/pp267/JLedbetter/th_Boatpics036.jpg) 2001 Triton Tx-21/225 Mercury EFI

It was a blast for sure and yes right before the front finally past is when they all were bitting. After the clouds cleared the bite stopped.

I fished fayette Tuesday and we boated 40 fish. We caught some in the discharge on crankbaits and then the rest came from one spot on the dam. Caught all of those fish on a dropshot and a shakeyhead. Nothing big but it was a steady bite which was nice on a blue bird day.

Meeting with Texas Parks and Wildlife tomorrow in their office in San Marcos to discuss this very issue. My expectations for this initial meeting is to make them aware of the magnitude of this activity and determine what steps Texas Parks and Wildlife need to take to see if controls on cast netting should be implemented. Its my understanding that LCRA law enforcement really is against this practice as well. Im sure this will be a process and will take some time but hopefully this gets the ball "rolling" in getting rid of the cast netters on Fayette.

Also if this process requires that a petition to be submitted, I will let this forum know and solicit its members help in getting that accomplished.

Thanks so much for pursuing. I emailed TPW several years ago and just got the normal PR BS.

Had the initial meeting today with TPWD regarding the cast netting concerns. They informed me that they were not aware that this was a ongoing practice. End result they said they take sportsmanship concerns very serious and are going to move it up their chain of command to determine their next steps. One thing they said is that they will have to have some hard evidence that cast netting is a problem and causing environmental impact to the lake fisheries. They said this will be a process which they are willing to look at. They are going to have an internal meeting regarding our concerns within a week or two and are going to get back with what are the next steps that will have to take place. So we will see where this goes. There could be petitions involved with this process so at a minimum I will be reaching out to the members on this forum and the bass clubs that routinely fish Fayette for their support.

Only lake I regularly get checked by game wardens and absolutely the only lake where I was checked in the same day by 2 different game wardens, they know what is going on out there!

And what is your point? Not trying to be a smart A. I will tell you this, the people that can do something about it visa regulations that put limits or stop the cast netting knew nothing about it. One thing we found out, the game wardens etc. and the fisheries people that determine the fishing regulations have not been communicating. I fish that lake a lot and usually one day a week through out the year except during the summer since 2004 and have been checked by the game wardens a total of 3 times.

They just have to impose a size limit for the cast next and that'll help for now. Nothing over 3 feet maybe?
When I am not fishing I am thinking about fishing. And mostly what I should have done differently my last trip! #Brockstarama

They are throwing 8' now days mostly. That is 6' vs 16' diameter. Limiting cast net size is a great idea. It gets around the sticking point of not allowing them at all, but a 3' would deter a few from coming because of the smaller catch, it would all but stop the legal/illegal commercial harvesting, and it would all but eliminate the shallow water grass devastation which is our main concern.
