Wanting to match my Pflueger TRI25X to a different rod so looking for a few mid-cost suggestions. Will probably end up taking the reel into a BPS or Academy and see if they will let me fit it to something (will they?) so I can see how it feels, but hope to get a general idea on which poles to give a try. More often than not, I'm just a generic "Put it on a Ugly Stik" guy, but really like the TRI25X so wanted a better than average pairing. Caveats/Primary Uses:- Don't really want another ultra-light rig, more so something light/medium action that's still sensitive
- Nothing over 7" preferably around 6' 3"
- One or two piece, not telescopic
- Primarily for Crappie but still want a lil' backbone
- Fishing with jigs and live bait from the bank and on docks (not a boat)
Thanks in advance.

I have dobyn extreme ,Grod, bonehead , falcon , pro angler and Acc crappie stix . For the money would be hard to beat the Acc for 59.00 . I have been using the 8 ft Acc for the last 2 weeks deep water fishing Iām really impressed with the sensitivity of this rod !

7' medium light rod should fill your bill nicely. Look at Triumph rods, made by St. Croix.

Look at the Shimano Sensalite rods. They are quite sensitive and have some backbone to boot! IMO one of the best rods you can find for $50. They come in 7ft, 6'6", 6ft, and 5'6". they have lite and UL options.

7' medium light rod should fill your bill nicely. Look at Triumph rods, made by St. Croix. yup, for a 7 footer, the med-lite st croix triumph (trs70mlf) is still my go to rod. light, fast action, sensitive, and plenty of backbone. it really shines with a 4.6 to 5.2oz reel and 6, 8, or 10lb braid

I have mine on a 6' BnM sharpshooter. I believe it's light action. the balance is fantastic. Not sure what the model of my real is. Its the smallest one they make.

Bring your reel into Allen Cabela's. We'll let you try it on rods.

Thanks - I've got a couple of 10ft rods that I like, this rig will be used on and around boat docks with roofs, so the 8ft range is pushing it...

I think all of 'em have outlasted the original if not second generation of reels they were paired with. Great rods. Wasn't all too familer with the newer models - Thanks for the heads up.

Good info - I'd looked into that one but havn't been hands on with it yet. Pretty sure the TRI25X's I have are one size up from the smallest in that line. Great lil' reels.
