I had my 5 year old Exide flat AGM dual purpose group 24 battery go out. To my dismay Academy no longer carries them. Anyone have any good cranking batteries to recommend? Will run main staryer, lights, and fish finder.

I have been having good luck with the Duracell group 31 AGM’s and flooded cells on my boats. You can get them at Sams, and they are a good value.

You can also get the Duracells at Batteries + Plus Bulbs stores. And if you buy on line, you get 10% off when you pick up in store. You can also find out what store has what battery in stock, if your store dosn't have the one you want and don't wanna wait.

I am curious as to what people use for their cranking battery? Starting, dual use, or deep cycle? Deep cycle might be Overkill but it does get some extended draws while at anchor.

Anyone have an opinion of group 24 vs 34 batteries. They fit in the same hole. The 34 is one inch shorter.

Which ever battery size you get make sure it meets your Motor Mfg. marine cranking amp requirement.

I recently swapped over to deka.
run a deka grp 24 starting (1000 mca) and 3 grp 27 for fortrex 112.
currently run 2 garmin 93sv and 1 bird 998 (map/boatlanes only, no ducer).
made in pennsylvania, easy to find at marine dealers and price is comparable to wally world maxx and others.
