Alone at Dawn is new book that came out a few months back. I picked it up when it first released, just now getting around to reading it.
If you enjoy military books, this one is outstanding. It centers on an Air Combat Controller attached to a special forces unit in Operation Anaconda (2002 Afghanistan).
Prior to reading this, i had a very limited understanding of the job those guys do and the training required to become a combat controller.
The book walks you through all the training and certifications they go through, Its insane. They have to do all the physical training of a special ops MOS plus they have to be an expert at air traffic control, land nav, fire control, airborn deployment including HALO jumps, dives, etc as they get assigned to units with Seals, Rangers, Delta, basically any special forces mission.
Its a good read, 2 thumbs up.
