I'm with you, we don't get out until the 30th. If I can just find a way around football practice starting in August. I would love to hook up with you one day at the bridge. Let us know how many you catch next week and think about the less fortunate.

Amen to that. We are out at noon on Friday, but have a work day on Sat. Kind of glad about the work day though, it is getting me out of a 4 hour drive to Silsbee for a wedding on Sat. Guess I will hit the lakes soon. Coach

Hooking a fish is like playing string with a cat. The exact size, shape, color of string matters less than how you wiggle it- and little cats are easier to fool than big ones. John Gierach

Awesome. I was a teacher/coach for 8 years before I got out of the profession to make some real money. I enjoyed my time and the summers off were stinkin awesome. Of course, working 7 days a week with 16 hour days during football season wore you down but it was worth it for the kids. I probably will get back into coaching later on down the road when I have set myself up well enough financially. I really miss it somedays.
Have fun bud. All educators deserve it.

Agreed with all said and happy for your, SandSpike.
My wife taught 5/6th grade for 5 years in 3 different states (due to my constantly moving to move up the ladder). Since the kiddoes were born (00' and on), she's (like horns4021) has hung it up due to low pay and lack of parental support in this new generation (unlike when we grew up and teachers were trusted, no questions asked). Now, if I can only get into a 9 to 5 management job and out of this rotating shift junk, oh well, someone's got to watch the weather while the rest of ya sleep. LOL.
Enjoy your break my friends and catch lots of fish. Just know from our household, ALL teachers are heroes and appreciated!!

I teach 7th and 8th graders and finish the last days of teacher workshops and curriculum writing on the 15th. So much for those three months off, but hey, two and a half isn't anything to complain about.
I'm ready for any chance I get, especially after I just found out my new deer lease is minutes away from Cedar Creek. Looks like I'll be bringing feeders and bags of corn with the boat this summer. Did I mention the lease has a stocked 3 acre lake that no one fishes on. Summer here I come.
About "parent support," I wish more parents took the time to take their kids fishing. It would make a difference in their lives and their school work. Parents who care usually have children who care about school.
That's why they call it fishing and not catching!

Right on! Finishing up the last day of school today!! Gone fishing! Since I live close to the OK border I will go explore some lakes up there. Lake Eufuala looks like a nice one followed up by Lake of the Cherokee's. Of course I'll hit up Roberts, one of the best crappie lakes in Texas! Good fishin to all!

I keep looking at my calendar trying to find that 3 months that SandSpike mentioned in the original post. Let's see...June...Oh yea, I'm teaching summer school 8-12 M-TH... ...July ...Yep, I'll be fishing almost every day ...August...practice starts the 6th, coaches report the 1st Of course teaching pays the bills, but summer school and coaching pay for the important stuff...you know...the boat and deer lease.
